A Gift...

Hopefully, this post will act as a peace offering. A way for me to help makes amends. Clint, this post is for you. I hope that this will lessen your anger towards me for my complete lack of motivation to post.

I give you....every South Park episode ever (yes, EVER). Streaming online (and they're uncensored). I know it's lame to sit in front of your laptop and watch "TV," but this may make it worth it.

(P.S. if your name is not Clint, or you already know about this, or if you don't really care about South Park....Sorry, you can disregard this post).

That will be all.

This Pleases Me....

Finally, Harmonix has announced that Rock Band will rock its way to the Wii starting on June 22nd for $170. A special edition bundle will include the game, drums, a guitar and a mic. Gamers can also grab standalone instruments if they choose. The game will feature 63 songs (including five bonus songs).

Harmonix claims that they will explore online content when the Wii's online capabilities and potential are fully realized—which may be never at this rate. It kills me to see how progressive Nintendo can be with their designs and how ass backwards they can be with regard to online play.

Dog Hair Sweater....

I know it's been awhile since I have posted something (I have been busy dealing with other affairs). At any rate, I saw this and knew that it required a posting.

When my childhood dog died at the age of 17 (or something like that; the point is he was REALLY old), my mom had him cremated, and he sat, for a time, on top of the television in our living room. On the creepiness scale, that's a "1" compared to the below.

Beth and Brian Willis really loved their dogs Kara and Penny. They were very sad, understandably, when they died. What did they do to remember them? Frame a photo of their beloved pups? No, that's too normal for these two. They decided to make sweaters out of the fur of their dead pets. Yes, I said sweaters out of their dead dogs.

The horrifying and ugly sweaters were made by gathering "thousands of dog hairs from brushes and carpets," which makes you wonder how often they vacuumed their house. Apparently, they're quite warm and waterproof in addition to being so goddamned creepy. And they have enough fur left over for a jumper, which is currently being made.

Taking the concept to its logical conclusion, the couple plans to have their skin made into fashionable hats for their children when they die. It's the circle of life!

Make A Wish...

If, God forbid, I ever found myself with some incurable disease, I think my last wish would be exactly this.

Sooo, jealous...

Floyd Mayweather

This is most likely only exciting to me, but Floyd Mayweather showed up last night at the WWE No Way Out PPV and confronted the returning Big Show. Check it out here.

Great angle I thought. Looks as though Mayweather may have actual cracked him pretty good. Although, with Mayweather's much talked about fragile hands, I doubt that he would risk hitting him too hard bare knuckled. At any rate, still pretty cool (at least to me).

Looks like this is building to a Rey Mysterio & Floyd Mayweather vs. Big Show & Shane McMahon match at Wrestlemania (we will know if this is for sure in about 1 1/2).

Good times.

HD-DVD Says Goodbye.

I know this is old news by now, but HD-DVD is no longer. This news comes as a relative shock to me, as the porn industry had embraced the HD-DVD format over Blue Ray. And as we all know, the porn industry has had incredible influence in past format wars (see VHS vs. Beta).

(P.S. I am in part posting this because I wanted an excuse to post the below picture).

AWESOME

So excited about this movie. And I won't lie, the music still gives me goose-bumps (yes, I am a nerd). The trailer seems promising, although I am not too wild about them having Indiana flying around like he's still 25 (which from the tailer it appears they may do). I mean, the guy clearly looks old. Somehow watching him perform physical feats that a man of his age clearly couldn't pull off would ruin the magic a bit. That aside, I am fired up for this!

That's One HUGE....

This girl is scary. She can dunk with ease. And not one of those break away dunks where she needs to get a huge running start to barely get the ball down. She actually dunks the ball during play (meaning she can come down with a rebound and go back up and dunk it).

Oh ya, and she wears a men's size 18 Shoe? WTF?

Poor Brand Messaging....

I think these essentially speak for themselves.

How Far the Mighty Have Fallen....

Washed-up actor Corey Haim has taken out a full page ad in Variety Magazine to announce his come back. I would laugh if this wasn't so pathetic.

$6 Million Home Theater

Yes. Someone spent $6 million dollars on a home theater. The projector alone costs $100,00. You can read more about it here. The odd thing is, the guy spends all this money on a home theater system...and it only seats 3 people? I guess this guy is both rich (or extremely irresponsible with his money), and lonely.

Two Words: Vote Huckabee

As I get older, I find myself leaning more and more to the right. I am not necessarily prepared to vote for a conservative candidate just yet. However, more endorsements like this and I might be convinced.

Hint: the big payoff comes at exactly 2:27 in...

Looks Like Someone Has a Case of the Monday's...

I am guessing that this is pretty old, and everyone has already seen it....but it was new to me, so here ya go.

The Dawning of a New Era in Fast Food

I saw this on another blog, and was compelled to share it here (for the 2 people that may actual look at this site). This is genius. Not as genius as the Wii VR thingy, but damn close. It's so simple that it's amazing to me that it had not been thought of yet.

The only potential problem I see is that it seems like the chicken nuggets would make the pop warm (and vise versa). Also, I can see the condensation issue being a problem, as it probably wouldn't take long before your nuggets were soggy. All in all however, a stellar idea....

Wiener Poopie

I actually found $5 laying in the street next to my car when I arrived at work this morning (just thought I would share).

The below video is completely unrelated to my new found riches, but it made me happy (as did finding the $5, so in that way maybe they are related). Anyway....

Someone explain to me how this is news....

Grandma Nolte

Hmmm, not sure what to make of this. Aren't movie stars supposed to have fashion consultants? I mean, I'm no fashion expert, but I know better than to leave the house dressed like my grandmother....

Wii

Have been wanting to post this video for awhile now, but due to an over-whelming sense of general laziness haven't (and I am only posting it now because Michelle mentioned that my blog may provide some limited entertainment value while she is off cruising; and I am feeling the pressure).

This dude is a freakin' genius. Here is his actual resume. The guy that lives below me actually graduated from the same university he attends ( Carnegie Mellon University), which I will in no way hold against him. Anyway, imagine the possibilities if Nintendo can somehow develop games based on this....

Huh?

Randomly ran across this, and found myself oddly transfixed.....

NCAA Champs in MMA

Saw an article by Dave Meltzer on Yahoo Sports detailing the former NCAA wrestling champions that went on to fight MMA (as Brock Lesnar will do this Sat for the UFC). Thought it was kind of interesting. Also interesting to note how well wrestling translates to MMA. As the old school of thought, prior to the UFC essentially coming along and debunking the myth, was that a "martial artist," like Bruce Lee, or a boxer, like Ali, would fair the best if it was a "street fight" or there were "no rules." I guess the lesson is if you really want to be able to beat people up (not that anyone should have aspirations in that direction), you should be learning how to wrestle....not how to do "flying karate kicks."

There have been 14 NCAA champions, including Lesnar and Terkay, who have gone into MMA. Here are the other 12:

Royce Alger: The 1987 champion at 167 pounds and 1988 champion at 177 for Iowa, Alger had a 3-2 MMA record, but his two losses were in UFC during its early days, being submitted by Enson Inoue quickly, and knocked out by Eugene Jackson.

Mark Coleman: The 1988 champion at 190 pounds, Coleman was UFC's third champion, winning two tournaments and then beating Dan Severn for the title. He left UFC for Pride, where he won the first Grand Prix tournament in 2000. Coleman, 15-8 in MMA, was a wrestler who was still at the world class level when he started in MMA in 1996, and his simple takedown and ground-and-pound style worked early on. But as the game changed, he was less successful.

Johny Hendricks: Hendricks captured the 165 pound title in 2005 and 2006 for Oklahoma State, and placed second in 2007. He is currently affiliated with Team Takedown and is 2-0 in shows in Oklahoma, training out of Couture's gym in Las Vegas.

Rex Holman: The 1993 champion at 190 pounds from Ohio State, where he was a teammate with Kevin Randleman and coached by Coleman, Holman had long since retired as a wrestler when he went into MMA. He's 4-2, with his only UFC appearance a loss last year to Matt Hamill.

Mark Kerr: The 1992 champion at 190 pounds for Syracuse. Kerr was considered the No. 1 heavyweight in MMA in 1998 and 1999, and his fall from grace was documented in the HBO documentary "The Smashing Machine," which vividly displayed his drug addiction issues. He is still active today with a 14-6 record. In a trivia note, the person he defeated in his championship win was Oklahoma State's Couture.

Josh Koscheck: The 2001 champion at 174 pounds for Edinboro College. He's currently 9-2 and one of UFC's top-rated welterweight fighters. He came out on the short end of what was largely a wrestling battle on Aug. 25 in Las Vegas with Georges St. Pierre.

Kenny Monday: University of Oklahoma 1984 champ at 150 pounds, and later a gold medalist in the Olympics. Monday fought once in 1997, beating John Lewis, and later lost a submissions-only match to Matt Hume.

Mark Munoz: The 2001 champion at 197 pounds at Oklahoma, Munoz debuted this last year and has a 3-0 record fighting in California. He coaches wrestling at Cal-Davis, the alma mater of Urijah Faber, and trains with Faber's camp.

Kevin Randleman: Randleman took the 1992 and 1993 championship for Ohio State at 177 pounds. Randleman was an MMA pioneer who is still active, with a 16-12 record. He has held the UFC heavyweight championship and was a top star for years with Pride, both winning and losing fights with major names including losses to Couture, Liddell, Jackson, Kazushi Sakuraba, Mirko Cro Cop (who he also beat in one of Pride's most famous moments) and Fedor Emelianenko.

Jake Rosholt: A three-time champion at Oklahoma State, winning in 2003 at 184 and 2005 and 2006 at 197, Rosholt is also a member of Team Takedown and training at Couture's gym. He has a 3-0 MMA record and is expected to be a major star before long.

Mark Schultz: A three-time champion for Oklahoma from 1981-83, and a 1984 Olympic gold medalist, he was in Detroit for a UFC show in 1996 to work the corner when there was a pullout. The night before the show, on almost a lark, he agreed to fight Gary Goodridge, and used his wrestling to beat Goodridge. But he never fought again. At the time, he was head wrestling coach at Brigham Young University and UFC was being savaged by the media. The college told him he couldn't be associated with MMA.

Mike Van Arsdale The 1988 champion at 167 pounds for Iowa State. Van Arsdale, who competed for years internationally for the U.S., went 4-1 in 1998, losing a brutal match in Brazil to Wanderlei Silva. He came back years later and although in his early 40s, still competes and has a 9-5 record, including a high profile loss to Couture.

Internet Circa 1996

The internet has come a long way in the last 12 years. The scary thing is, I was already a year out of high school in '96 when these sites were live on the interweb. Damn, this makes me feel old.

Here's how McDonalds.com looked in 1996.
NYTimes.com
BestBuy.com.
WhiteCastle.com
Pepsi.com
